Derek Brouwer

Account Director

Derek Brouwer is the Account Director for Circa Creative Studios, based in the Kalamazoo office. He brings a wealth of digital and design experience from his time working on brands like Cottonelle, Haworth, Ford, and Bell’s Brewing while previously employed as a designer and art director at VMLY&R, a two-time Ad Age Agency to Watch winner with offices all over the globe. Prior to his work there, he was a student at Ferris State University where he received a BS degree in Graphic Design and minored in Art History, which he studied abroad in Italy.

Derek is especially passionate about mentoring young creatives through Circa’s fellowship program which provides paid on-the-job training to design students that are fresh out of college and looking to start their careers. Over the years, many of these fellows have “graduated” to become some of Circa’s finest full-time team members.

He is a dad to two girls, a massive fan of all things Disney and Nintendo, a devotee of the contemporary artist/nonagenarian Yayoi Kusama, and has an ever-expanding card collection. You might say he’s building his own house of cards–an impressive wide-ranging treasure trove of trading cards, playing cards, lenticular postcards, the list goes on and on.
